Planned location: traffic island on Müggelheimer Strasse

Referring to the tradition of hunting in Köpenick, the traffic island on Müggelheimer Strasse is defined as a hunting ground. The elongated shape, the vegetation with groups of trees and “clearings”, and the aggressive atmosphere created by the traffic flowing down both sides of the island make this a logical move – especially because this location is closely associated with Köpenick’s hunting history: the palace visible from the site was long a popular hunting lodge for Prussian kings, and the continuation of Müggelheimer Strasse was an important link to the forest hunting grounds around Müggelsee lake.

The project focuses on the ambivalent relationship between sport and hunting. This is achieved by installing objects generated as hybrids whose origins lie in hunting (e.g. rope with rags, raised hide, screen) and which appear closely related to equipment used in various sporting disciplines (e.g. finishing flag, umpire’s chair, barriers).
