Mährische Bank (Moravian Bench) – 2015
Plywood, approx. 90 x 240 x 30 cm
The bench is part of the series of perspective objects and quotes a bench from a painting in the Moravian Gallery in Brno (anonymous, circa 1480). In real space, without its painted setting, the bench needs supports, which now become part of its appearance. The front matches the painted original, while the parts not seen in the painting are extrapolated from the visible vanishing lines. The illustrations show the painting and an installation view with Tugendhat Bank at The Brno House of Arts.
